The Intermountain Yudanshakai is proud to recognize our members who live the core values of Kodokan Judo. Individuals that standout among our 300 plus members can do so in a variety of ways. From stellar competition results or continuous service to the Yudanshakai or art of judo, all members have an opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding commitment to the sport and art.

BRAD GILBERT - TREASURE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL JUDO CLUB
Brad Gilbert has been chosen as the Intermountain YDK player of the year for 2004. Brad is 14 and has been playing Judo since he was 6 years old. Brad has quite a list of throws he likes to use but his favorites are morote-seio-nage, kata-garuma and harai-goshi. Besides playing judo Brad also enjoys baseball, football and snowboarding. Brad comes from a long list of judoka in his family. Uncle Faron Gilbert was a national champion, Uncle Bill Gilbert, his dad Bryan Gilbert an instructor at Treasure Valley Judo, plus two younger brothers Daniel and Tyler, all of which play judo on a regular basis. Brad is a great help in the dojo with new students and does not hesitate to lead by example as he understands that the younger judoka look up to him as a role model. Brad says that some of the things he has learned from judo are to treat others with dignity and respect. He also enjoys the fact that it’s just you and your opponent on the mat.
