Promotional Requirements
IYDK Yudansha promotions are held twice a year, at our summer, and winter meetings. Promotion and clinic dates are announced in advance on the Clubs and Events page and on Facebook. All paperwork must be complete and ready to be turned in to the promotional chair at one of these meetings.
IYDK has the authority to promote from Ikkyu (first degree brown belt) to Godan (fifth degree black belt). Lower promotions are handled at the individual dojo level and higher promotions need to be submitted to and approved by the national promotion committee.
IYDK members seeking promotions of shodan and higher must belong to and be in good standing with USJF for three years prior to the promotion date, as well as fulfilling all paperwork and technical requirements. Promotion to Shodan requires a minimum of one year as Ikkyu.
